Hi Justin, thanks for reading my article. Part of my information for the article was gleaned from visiting friends that moved from Baltimore to C’ville. I know that couple well and asked them a lot of questions about their town after they had been there over a year. From my several trips there, I think C’ville suffers the fate of many of the great places in the US where a few bad apples can influence the media to portray a situation that isn’t true. Some may think C’ville is racist, I’m not one that believes the majority of the residents are racists.

Please don’t encourage people to visit that God forsaken, and racist town. This is what they do put up some stupid sign thinking the horrible event that occured would just disappear out of thin air. Trying to make the innocent life that was lost forgotten. There are more than a thousand places to visit but “charlottesville” is not one of them Thanks!. By the way nice article and love your writing.

Before the terrible event there, Charlottesville was a great place to visit. We’re just reminding people that there is more to a place than bad news in the media, and we should try to move past this to enjoy the city’s charms not focus on one bad news event.

As a nearly 20 year resident of Charlottesville, I appreciate Kurt’s article encouraging people to give our city another look. And in response to Justin Arckman, I’m sorry that you apparently had a bad experience here, but by no stretch is our community forgetting Heather Heyer. On the contrary, we honor both her sacrifice and her life of activism, and are doing our best to unearth and expose the racism that undergirds our entire American society.
